The home of the renowned Corkie Simmental herd in North-east Scotland will be the venue for a major beef event in 2011.

Scotland’s Beef Event 2011 will be hosted by father and son, Jimmy and Iain Green at Corskie, Garmouth, Moray, on Wednesday, June 1, and is being organised by National Beef Association Scotland (NBAS).

The event is expected to attract visitors from across the UK and Ireland, as well as commercial beef producers in Scotland, to view the pedigree Simmental herd of 140 cows and followers, together with a selection of Simmental cross cattle – mostly 15/16ths Simmental – from the Green’s 320-cow suckler herd at Pluscarden, Elgin.

As well as showcasing the Corskie Simmental herd, the event will focus on commercial beef production with a day-long programme which will include a farm tour, seminars & demonstrations. Key theme will be the health benefits of operating a closed herd...read more
