Bluetongue - Declaration of a temporary control area

DECLARATION OF A TEMPORARY CONTROL AREA

1. This declaration is made under article 5(1) of the Movement of Animals (Restrictions) (England) Order 2002 (S.I. 2002/3229) (“the Order”).

2. Terms defined in the Order have the same meaning in this declaration.

3. The Secretary of State suspects Bluetongue to exist. He, therefore, declares that from 17:30 on 25th September 2007 the area described in Annex 1 below is a temporary control area (“the Area”) in which the measures set out in Annex 2 below shall apply. 
 
4. This declaration applies to ruminating animals.

Failure to comply with this Declaration may be an offence under section 72 or 73 of the Animal Health Act 1981.

Annex 1

The Temporary Control Area comprises the counties of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Leicestershire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire and Suffolk and the Unitary Authorities of Leicester City Council, Luton, Milton Keynes, Nottingham City Council, Peterborough, Rutland and Southend on Sea.

Annex 2

1.  No person shall move any ruminating animal from premises in the Temporary Control Area or out of the Temporary Control Area except where the movement is authorised by a licence issued under article 5(7) of the Order.
