Press Release - NBA denounces repulsive brucellosis act

Region: Northern Ireland

NBA denounces repulsive brucellosis act.

The National Beef Association has denounced a deliberate attempt to infect Armagh cattle with brucellosis and will support every effort made by police and government to identify and punish the culprit.

It also wants the Department of Agriculture to increase its efforts to stamp out the highly contagious disease and set a time target for complete eradication, said its Northern Ireland chairman, Oisin Murnion.

“The NBA, along with every cattle farmer in the Province, condemns last week’s crack at sabotaging the health of outlying cattle and undermining the economic security of their owner,” he explained.

“Every cattle owner in Northern Ireland wants to eradicate this plague and deplores the underhand efforts of unknown individuals to spread it in such a repulsive manner.”
