Continued Developments at NBA

The National Beef Association have today announced an interim replacement for NBA Assistant Director, Joanne Pugh who left at the end of last week to embark on a new position with the National Sheep Association.  Alison McKnight joins NBA this week as Interim Operations Manager 4 days a week to manage the transition period of the new NBA put in place recently.

NBA Chairman said “Joanne has undertaken a tremendous amount of work for NBA through a challenging year which has helped us maintain our position and our profile and we wish Joanne all the very best in her future.  However with a new era for NBA recently announced and our new Board in place we have chosen to take this opportunity to bring in support to allow us to continue our key work and help steer our developments in the short term.  This will give us the time and the strategy rightly deserved to recruit a suitable lead figure for the organisation in the coming months.  We are delighted that Alison has joined us and we look forward to continuing and increasing our presence over this time.

Hamish continued “The challenges that the industry faces at present needs a stable and a proactive NBA which is what the Review Committee recommended and that is exactly what we aim to deliver.”

Ms McKnight, who is based in the Highlands of Scotland will be travelling the UK on behalf of NBA for the foreseeable months.  Alison comes with a farming background and currently operates as an independent rural consultant with previous employment with Smiths Gore Farm Management and FWAG Scotland.  Alison commented “The opportunity to work with NBA through this development stage is a challenge I am excited to accept.  There is much to learn and a great deal to achieve to fulfil the expectations of the Board and the members of the association and I look forward to working with all members and staff to ensure the association has a positive future.  One of my first tasks will be to attend Livestock 2012 to meet as many members, processors and other contacts as possible and I welcome communication from all interested parties during my time with NBA”.
